Waste (Not) 2019
French artist Carolyn Cardinet and British artist Kirsty Little met by fate in DC whilst investigating the world plastic pollution situation. Both were moved by the recent discoveries of nano plastic particles from our misuse of everyday plastic items. These plastic particles are now floating in the very air we breathe and in our water supply.
Waste(Not) is made from thousands of locally collected and found single-use plastic lids. Community members, alerted by list serve posts and contacted through mailing lists. rallied and helped thread the plastic found to create an immersive art experience.
The public is invited to walk through this plastic waterfall.
By being literally touched by the plastic waste the artists aim to inform the audience through sensory awareness and making solidly present the invisible potential threat for our environment and future health.
